I cannot believe the time has come to begin my next adventure; to meet new people; to explore a new country; to discover and develop my person, my career, my life as a member of the Global Health Corps community. After graduating from UVA this May, I have opened a new door, the next journey, as a Global Health Corps Fellow.
For those of you who do not know, Global Health Corps is an organization that seeks to build a global community committed to the shared human right to good health and wellbeing. Global Health Corps recruits emerging professionals and corresponding placement organizations throughout the United States and Eastern Africa committed to improving healthcare access and healthcare outcomes in my impoverished communities. As a Global Health Corps Fellow, I am passionate, eager, and committed to work as Design Fellow at MASS Design Group in Kigali, Rwanda.

After a month at home spending time with my family, camping on Cape Cod, and prepping for the year ahead, I have begun two weeks of training at Yale University’s Global Health Institute with my new Global Health Corps Family. This past week at Yale I have met amazing people; gotten to spend time with my co-fellow Lorenzo; attended inspiring lectures given by Phill Wilson, President and CEO of the Black Aids Institute, Brian Murphy-Eustis with Partners In Health, Noerine Kaleeba (co-founder of TASO), and Rop Kaplan Professor at Harvard Business School – just to name a few. Within only a few days, I have already learned more than I could imagine about the global health community and my responsibility as a GHC fellow.
